The Petah Tikva Magistrate's Court on Monday ordered the release of one of two Samaria farmers arrested after they went to retrieve their flock that had been stolen by dozens of Arab rioters. The farmers were attacked during the incident. The second farmer's detention was extended by three days.
Their lawyers, Adi Kedar and Daniel Shamshilashvili of the Honenu organization, welcomed the release decision as justified though late, and expressed regret over the extension of the second farmer's detention. They said they are confident his version will ultimately be accepted, as there is no evidence supporting the police's claim of gunfire. The lawyers stated that the false narrative of settler violence has infiltrated this case as well.
As The Zioneer reported on June 11, the two farmers' detention was previously extended by four days. Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan had called for their release, saying the arrests were mistaken and that the farmers had coordinated with the military throughout the search for stolen livestock.
