A court in the Central District ruled Monday that former IDF general Dan Harel defamed MK Zvi Sukkot (Religious Zionism) and Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan, ordering him to pay tens of thousands of shekels in compensation. The judge found Harel lied when he claimed that a battalion and a half had been diverted to guard Sukkot in Huwara before October 7. Sukkot stated: "Whoever slanders will pay, and big."
A magistrate's court in the Central District ruled on Monday that former IDF Southern Command chief Dan Harel must pay compensation to MK Zvi Sukkot (Religious Zionism) and Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan for defamation. The court found that Harel lied during a television interview by claiming that a battalion and a half of IDF soldiers had been diverted to guard Sukkot's sukkah in Huwara prior to the October 7 massacre. Judge Mizrahi rejected Harel's counterclaim and sharply criticized his statements. The compensation amount was set at tens of thousands of shekels. In response, Sukkot said: "Whoever slanders will pay, and big." Dagan stated: "The blood of the residents of Samaria will not be abandoned — we will never keep silent about slander and lies." The ruling follows a previous bulletin by The Zioneer reporting that Harel was ordered to pay 35,000 NIS to Sukkot.
