01 · THE DISPATCH

A drone strike struck the Abu Hasna family home in the Al-Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip at around 19:32 Saturday evening, killing three people, according to Palestinian reports. Among the dead is Ahmad Washaah, a photographer for the Qatari Al Jazeera network. The strike marks the second Al Jazeera journalist from the same family to be killed in an Israeli attack in recent months: Ahmad’s brother, Muhammad Washaah, also an Al Jazeera journalist, was killed in an Israeli strike roughly two and a half months ago.

The first reports of the strike, published at 19:32 Jerusalem in the initial wire, described an Israeli Air Force strike on a building in Bureij with three fatalities but no identified victims. By the second version of the bulletin, published at 19:48 Jerusalem, Palestinian sources had named Ahmad Washaah as one of the dead and specified the targeted address as the Abu Hasna family home. The updated report also identified Ahmad Washaah as a photographer, not a reporter, for Al Jazeera. The IDF has not confirmed the strike or the casualty figures.

Palestinian sources report that at least 10 people have been killed across the Gaza Strip in Israeli strikes today, a figure that includes the three in the Bureij incident. The daily toll, as The Zioneer has reported in previous bulletins, has fluctuated across June amid ongoing operations in central and southern Gaza.

No independent confirmation of the strike, the target, or the identities has been provided by the IDF as of 19:54 Jerusalem. The precise circumstances of the attack — including the munition type and the intended target — remain unverified.
