The blaze broke out on the evening of Friday, June 12. Firefighting crews from the Beit Shemesh district stations worked alongside the Mateh Yehuda Regional Council, the Israel Nature and Parks Authority, and KKL-JNF to extinguish deep-seated hot spots, conduct searches, and prevent reignition until the fire was fully contained.
An investigation by fire-scene investigators from the Jerusalem District concluded that the fire originated from human activity, with high probability of negligence; arson was ruled out. Beit Shemesh station commander Deputy-Tafser Oron Damari described the incident as a complex event requiring a prolonged operational effort, praising the professionalism and coordination of all entities involved.
The fire service again urged the public to exercise responsibility and avoid careless use of fire in open areas. As The Zioneer reported on Friday, the fire had been brought under control earlier, with Route 3866 temporarily closed; the road has since reopened.
