Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar's visit to Ecuador, the first by an Israeli minister in 44 years, culminated Wednesday evening in the signing of memoranda of understanding on counter-terrorism cooperation and economic expansion, N12 reported. The two countries also agreed to begin negotiations on a free trade agreement. The visit, which began earlier Wednesday, is part of a broader diplomatic push in Latin America. Sa'ar is also set to represent Israel at the inauguration of Colombia's President-elect Abelardo de la Espriella, following the agreement to move Colombia's embassy to Jerusalem.
