01 · THE DISPATCH

The IDF operation to locate the Hezbollah operative who killed Capt. David Hazutt remains ongoing as of Sunday midday, according to the military and Israeli media reports.

Capt. Hazutt, 21, a platoon commander in the Golani Brigade's 12th Battalion from Ashkelon, was killed around 02:00 Sunday when his unit encountered a Hezbollah terrorist during a search in the Deir Siryan area of southern Lebanon, the IDF confirmed. Another soldier was lightly wounded. After the clash, forces began sweeping the area and struck targets in the vicinity, but the military stated that the effort to eliminate the terrorist continues and searches are still underway.

As The Zioneer reported earlier Sunday (12:21 and 12:53 Jerusalem), Capt. Hazutt's name was released for publication following family notification, and residents of the Upper Galilee were warned of explosions due to IDF activity in Lebanon. This incident marks the latest in a series of deadly encounters for Israeli forces operating in southern Lebanon against Hezbollah cells.
