On Thursday Sep 3 at 21:33 Jerusalem, The Zioneer reported that the IDF had achieved operational control of the Ali al-Taher ridge area, clearing it of Hezbollah terrorists both above and below ground. The military permitted publication of the capture of a major underground complex beneath the ridge, including command centers, weapons rooms, and living quarters. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated Thursday evening that the ridge was in Israeli hands. Defense Minister Israel Katz said the capture completed the consolidation phase of the security zone in southern Lebanon and that Israel would not withdraw until Hezbollah is disarmed throughout Lebanon.
The ridge has been a volatile sector. On August 15, a Hezbollah drone attack on the ridge seriously wounded three Israeli soldiers, as The Zioneer reported. Tonight's airstrike underscores that despite the IDF's clearance operations, hostile elements remain present in the sector.
No casualties or damage have been reported from the strike yet. It remains unclear whether Hezbollah operatives were present at the strike site.
