The IDF describes the Iranian-built 'Imad 4' underground base it is now holding on the Ali Taher ridge in southern Lebanon as a fortified subterranean compound housing command centers, missile launch shafts, and logistics facilities for hundreds of operatives, according to a military statement Saturday night.
The Israeli military published a detailed description Saturday night of the underground complex designated 'Imad 4' on the Ali Taher ridge, which IDF forces now hold.
The site, built over more than 12 years with Iranian funding and planning, includes a vast network of rock-hewn tunnels spanning several kilometers — wide enough for motorcycles and heavy truck traffic carrying missiles, according to the military. The base features dedicated vertical shafts for launching rockets and heavy long-range missiles from underground directly into Israeli territory, as well as living quarters, supply warehouses, ventilation and electrical systems, and a field hospital with operating rooms that would allow hundreds of Hezbollah operatives to remain underground for extended periods.
As The Zioneer reported Saturday at 22:48 Jerusalem, Arab-language channels had circulated a rumor linking the same underground facility to Hezbollah's propaganda video released in August 2024. Earlier Saturday, at 23:32 Jerusalem, The Zioneer reported that IDF forces maintain control over Hezbollah's southern front command center at the same site, with dozens of Hezbollah operatives reported trapped inside as Israeli forces hold the surrounding Tebnin area and Nabatieh heights.
The complex served as Hezbollah's main headquarters for the sector, commanding units such as the Nasr and Badr brigades. During the current fighting, the IDF struck the ridge and the underground complex hundreds of times from the air using bunker-buster munitions, according to the statement.
At this stage, the military's description provides no update on the status of Hezbollah operatives reportedly still inside the complex.
