The IDF announced it eliminated Ahmed Samir Muhammad Washah, a Hamas military wing operative who worked as an Al Jazeera photojournalist, in a precise strike in the central Gaza Strip on Saturday. Washah was killed alongside two additional Hamas terrorists. The military said Washah had advanced sniper attack plans and other terrorist activities against IDF troops in recent months, and posed an immediate threat.
The IDF confirmed Saturday evening that it eliminated Ahmed Samir Muhammad Washah, a Hamas military wing operative who worked as an Al Jazeera photojournalist, in a precision airstrike in the central Gaza Strip. Two additional Hamas terrorists were also killed in the strike.
The IDF stated that Washah had recently advanced sniper attack plans and other terrorist activities targeting IDF troops operating in the Gaza Strip. Washah's brother, Muhammad Samir Muhammad Washah, a senior Hamas operative in the rocket and weapons production headquarters who also operated under the guise of an Al Jazeera journalist, was eliminated in April. As The Zioneer reported earlier Saturday, Washah was named in security-affiliated reports as one of three operatives killed in a strike on the al-Bureij camp.
Ahmed Washah is the brother of Muhammad Washah, an Al Jazeera photographer killed in a reported drone strike in the al-Bureij camp in June, and the third reported elimination of an Al Jazeera-linked figure in the ongoing campaign. The IDF said the strike was conducted due to the immediate threat Washah posed to troops. Forces remain deployed in the area under the ceasefire agreement.
