TL;DR

The military says Golani Brigade troops tracked and killed the Hezbollah operative who ambushed its forces in Deir Siryan early Sunday morning. A second soldier was lightly wounded during the initial clash.

01 · THE DISPATCH

The IDF announced Sunday evening that its forces have killed the Hezbollah operative who ambushed a Golani Brigade patrol early Sunday in the village of Deir Siryan, southern Lebanon. The ambush claimed the life of Capt. David Hazut, 21, and left one other soldier lightly wounded.

The operation to locate the assailant began immediately after the initial clash. Troops searched the area and found the operative hiding in a nearby building, where he was eliminated, the military said.

As The Zioneer reported earlier Sunday, Hazut was killed during a building sweep after the Golani force encountered a Hezbollah operative and engaged him. The incident marked a continuation of Hezbollah ceasefire violations and attacks on IDF troops still operating in southern Lebanon as part of the post-ceasefire security arrangements.

The IDF emphasized it will continue to operate to remove any threat to its forces and will not allow Hezbollah to harm Israeli civilians or soldiers.
