TL;DR

The IDF Spokesperson reports that earlier today, one soldier was severely wounded, two moderately, and two lightly, after two explosive drones struck forces in the Tabnit area of southern Lebanon. IDF artillery struck terror infrastructure in the area.

01 · THE DISPATCH

The IDF confirmed that five soldiers were wounded in two sequential explosive drone attacks in the Tabnit area of southern Lebanon this morning. The first drone detonated near a tank of the Givati Brigade combat team, wounding four soldiers — one seriously, two moderately, and one lightly. As the evacuation vehicle arrived to extract the wounded, a second explosive drone struck the vehicle itself, wounding an additional soldier lightly. All five were airlifted to a hospital, and their families have been notified. IDF artillery subsequently targeted terror infrastructure in the area.

The Tabnit area has been the site of repeated drone attacks against IDF forces in recent weeks. The Zioneer has reported several similar incidents: on June 14, a reservist described being severely wounded by an explosive drone in southern Lebanon after clearing a path for his squad; on June 11, a female IDF soldier was moderately wounded by an explosive drone; and on June 7, four reserve soldiers were moderately wounded and two soldiers were killed in separate drone and rocket incidents. The Givati Reconnaissance Unit commander was lightly wounded in a clash on June 5.

This incident underscores the persistent threat from explosive drones that Hezbollah continues to deploy against Israeli forces operating in southern Lebanon. The use of a secondary strike on an evacuation vehicle represents a tactic designed to maximize casualties among first responders. No Hezbollah claim of responsibility has been reported at this time.
