01 · THE DISPATCH

The Israel Defense Forces announced on Monday morning that it killed two senior Hamas operatives in the northern Gaza Strip over the weekend — the engineering commander of the Western Jabalia Battalion and the sniper array commander in Gaza City.

The first strike targeted Ahmad Munir Khalil Zaza, identified as the engineering officer of Hamas's Western Jabalia Battalion in the Gaza City area. According to the military, Zaza was responsible for manufacturing and distributing weapons among company-level units, rigging buildings with explosives, and attempting to plant IEDs near the 'yellow line' — the ceasefire buffer zone — to attack Israeli troops.

The second strike eliminated Hussin Safadi, the commander of Hamas's sniper array in Gaza City. The IDF said Safadi was responsible throughout the war for directing all sniper attacks against Israeli forces operating in the Gaza City area and had systematically violated the ceasefire in recent weeks by attempting to train operatives and advance additional sniper plots.

The eliminations come amid continued Israeli operations in the northern Strip targeting what the military describes as persistent efforts by Hamas to rebuild its operational capabilities despite the ceasefire framework established earlier this year. As The Zioneer has reported, the IDF has carried out multiple targeted strikes in recent days against Hamas and Islamic Jihad operatives who allegedly violated the ceasefire's terms.

No immediate comment was received from Gaza-based sources, and casualty figures — including potential civilian casualties — were not reported by the military.
