The IDF confirmed on Sunday evening that the Israeli Air Force intercepted an unmanned aerial vehicle near the Syria border, without activating warning sirens. The confirmation followed a series of increasingly detailed reports published earlier in the evening.
The Zioneer's initial bulletin at 19:22 Jerusalem reported the basic interception. Within the same minute, a second update placed the interception in the Hermon area, citing a report from i24. A third version, also at 19:22 Jerusalem, added that the UAV was intercepted one kilometer from Israeli airspace and that security establishment suspicions pointed to an Iranian launch origin. The IDF's official statement did not specify the location or the suspected origin.
The incident is part of a broader pattern of aerial threats along Israel's northern border. Earlier on Sunday, at 15:07 Jerusalem, The Zioneer reported that an interceptor was launched at a suspected drone near Hanita on the Lebanon border, with no immediate report of a hit.
The source of the launch remains under investigation. The earlier reports of Iranian involvement and the Hermon location have not been officially confirmed by the IDF.
