TL;DR

The Israeli Air Force has struck dozens of targets across southern Lebanon and the Beqaa region since midnight, amid what the military calls Hezbollah violations of the ceasefire. At least 12 Lebanese have been killed in strikes on villages including Barish, Arab Salim, and Deir al-Zahrani, according to Israeli media reports.

01 · THE DISPATCH

Since midnight Saturday, Israeli Air Force strikes across southern Lebanon and the Beqaa Valley have killed at least 12 people, according to Israeli media reports. The IDF described the wave of strikes, focused on the Nabatieh district as well as the Tyre, Jezzine, and Beqaa areas, as a response to Hezbollah ceasefire violations. A strike on a residential building in Barish (Tyre district) killed four; a drone strike on a vehicle in Deir al-Zahrani killed four; three were killed in Arab Salim; and one in Al-Dweir. Dozens of other towns were targeted, but casualties there have not been released. The military called the operation a "ring of fire" in Nabatieh city and the village of Rayhan.

The Zioneer first reported IDF strikes across southern Lebanon at 09:42 Jerusalem Saturday. That initial version cited an IDF-aligned channel, reporting Lebanese sources saying dozens were wounded and some killed. By the same hour we had developed the story into version 2 (five killed), version 3 (rescue teams searching for survivors), version 4 (at least 12 killed, from the Abu Ali Express channel), and version 5 (IDF confirming approximately 20 Hezbollah operatives eliminated in the overnight strikes). The casualty count has thus evolved from single-source Lebanese reports to Israeli military confirmation of operatives killed. Civilian casualties cited in the draft remain drawn from Israeli media reports, not from official IDF or independent accounts.

The Zioneer has reported persistent IDF strikes on southern Lebanon across recent weeks, including on towns in the Nabatieh area (as reported Fri Jun 12), 10 towns hit since midnight on Sun Jun 14, artillery strikes killing three in Nabatieh al-Fawqa on Thu Jun 18, and strikes on five southern towns on Fri Jun 19 (see also the Jun 9 report of 10 killed in Tyre and a drone strike). This thread of military activity has unfolded against a declared ceasefire, with the IDF characterizing each spike as a response to Hezbollah violations.

What remains open: casualty details from the dozens of additional targeted towns have not been released. The IDF has not formally updated its own casualty count for this specific operation beyond its statement on 20 Hezbollah operatives eliminated. The civilian toll — at least 12 — is drawn from a single source (Israeli media) and remains unverified by independent or on-the-ground reporting.
