Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman warned Thursday that if Israel does not fully withdraw from Lebanese territory, the memorandum of understanding with the United States will be canceled, according to a single Iranian source.
Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaie issued the new ultimatum Thursday morning, stating that continued Israeli military presence in southern Lebanon would void the recently signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Tehran and Washington.
The threat escalates a pattern of Iranian warnings this week. As The Zioneer reported, Baghaie had previously warned on Monday that the US must enforce Lebanon ceasefire obligations under the MoU, and on Thursday morning (reporting separately) he also threatened a breach over the removal of enriched uranium from Iran. Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated Tuesday that any Israeli attack on Lebanon or continued presence in occupied territories violates the MoU.
The new statement does not specify a deadline for withdrawal. Jerusalem has not issued an official response to this latest ultimatum.
