Initial reports did not name the victim, but he was later identified as Itamar Cohen, 51, a prominent agricultural pioneer. The IDF encircled the nearby village of Beit Furik, and police launched an investigation. Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan arrived at the scene and blamed the Palestinian Authority and terror organizations for incitement.
