Jerusalem police and Military Police uncovered an extensive weapons cache during a raid on a residential apartment in the Ramat Sharet neighborhood. Officers found explosives, a missile, grenades, and firearms, some concealed in a closet behind dresses, according to police sources and N12.
The suspect, a man in his 50s, told investigators the military-grade equipment belonged to his son, an active-duty soldier who had stored the items at the home. Police are examining the claim and the circumstances under which the cache was assembled. The suspect was taken in for questioning.
This is the second major weapons seizure in the Jerusalem area within a week. On June 26, Border Police uncovered a large cache of rifles and explosives submerged in a deep well in the village of al-Jib, north of Jerusalem, in an operation that involved draining the well and diving to recover the material. Police said that cache was believed intended for terrorist attacks. The present case remains under investigation, with no immediate indication of a direct link between the two discoveries.
