Opposition leaders Avigdor Liberman and Yair Golan on Sunday launched a joint attack on the government and Shin Bet Director David Zini, citing the attempted terror attack on a Flydubai flight. According to reports at 16:33 Jerusalem, Liberman demanded the resignation of the entire security echelon and accused them of abandoning flight security.
Liberman had earlier called for Zini to resign over the Play Dubai affair. In a post on X at 16:03, Liberman said Zini is an excellent officer but unsuitable to serve as Shin Bet chief, adding that the latest failure strengthened his original opposition to the appointment. At 16:14, Liberman explicitly tied his demand to the Play Dubai affair, stating Zini must draw conclusions and go home, as The Zioneer reported at 16:15 Jerusalem.
Golan's decision to join the attack broadens the opposition's criticism of Zini's leadership. The government has not yet issued a response to the demands.
It remains unclear whether additional opposition figures will join the calls for Zini's resignation. The Shin Bet has not commented on the matter.
