The manhunt saw police take unusual steps. As The Zioneer reported on Wednesday, July 22, a relative of the suspect was arrested. The following day, Thursday, July 23, two additional suspects were arrested, including a relative of the main suspect, and Sasson's 15-year-old sister was detained in what sources described as a strategic step to pressure him to turn himself in. That same day, journalist Daniel Amram reported that Sasson had shaved his head and beard to evade capture. On Tuesday morning, July 28, before the arrest, a prison service officer was arrested on suspicion of conducting a romantic relationship with Sasson's brother and aiding his escape. The police had also published Sasson's photo in an unusual public appeal.
The investigation into the murder of 19-year-old Beniahu Razi continues. Sasson is expected to be brought before a court for a remand hearing.
