The driver was attacked by youths who broke his teeth and caused facial injuries, leaving him unconscious for several minutes.
The attack, which occurred in the Ramot neighborhood, was first reported by The Zioneer at 09:28 Jerusalem. The driver recounted losing consciousness for about two minutes and fearing for his life. Israel Police opened an investigation, and by 12:31 Jerusalem, The Zioneer confirmed the probe was underway.
The incident follows a series of violent attacks on drivers in Jerusalem. The Zioneer reported on June 10 that a bus driver died of cardiac arrest after confronting unruly youths. Earlier Sunday, a young man on the autism spectrum was assaulted by a group of boys in the same Ramot neighborhood, as The Zioneer reported at 10:19 Jerusalem.
Police have not announced any arrests in the assault. The investigation remains ongoing.
