Twenty-two founding families moved into the community, which is located in the biblical Valley of Dotan. Yoav Kisch and Zeev Elkin, ministers in the government, joined former minister Yitzhak Goldknopf and MKs Ariel Kalner, Amit Halevi, Boaz Bismut, and Nissim Vaturi at the event. Rabbi Chaim Baruch, head of the community's pre-military yeshiva, and Zev Hever (Zambish), secretary-general of the Amana settlement movement, also participated. Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan said: 'This land has waited for us for thousands of years — Emek Dotan will be a huge and beautiful community.'
