01 · THE DISPATCH

The funeral of Staff Sergeant Nave Habshoosh, 20, from Adam, is set for 18:00 today at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem, the IDF cleared for publication. The family announced the arrangements Sunday morning, as the military continues investigating the tank explosion that killed him Friday in southern Lebanon alongside three other soldiers — his battalion commander and two fellow crewmen. The cause of the blast remains under investigation, with no official finding released yet.

Earlier, the IDF identified Habshoosh as the fourth casualty of the incident, after initially naming Lt. Col. Dor Ben Simhon, Staff Sgt. Yoav Klein, and Staff Sgt. Liab Kavabia on Saturday (23:00 Jerusalem). That same evening, Channel 14's Noam Amir reported that Habshoosh fell in a tank explosion that also killed his battalion commander. By Saturday night, the military's preliminary probe determined the tank was struck by a combined Hezbollah attack — anti-tank missiles followed by an armed drone that penetrated through the rear hatch and detonated inside the crew compartment, as The Zioneer reported. A senior officer later said the crew was seizing Hezbollah's main underground command center on the Ali Taher ridge; dozens of operatives are reportedly trapped, according to the IDF.

As The Zioneer reported on Sunday morning, the tank has not yet been recovered from southern Lebanon, delaying a more thorough investigation. The military has not specified the exact time of the blast Friday, but earlier thread items placed the incident around 00:20.

What remains open is the precise sequence of the attack — whether the drone entered before or after the tank was immobilized — and the status of the recovery operation. No further details on the three other soldiers' funerals have been announced.
