Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz announced Friday the decision to demolish the home of the terrorist who carried out the morning's deadly attack near Havat Gilad, and to launch counter-terror operations in Palestinian villages, according to a joint statement from the Prime Minister's Office.
The attack was first reported at 08:22 Jerusalem time, when the IDF received a report of gunfire near Havat Gilad in Samaria. Magen David Adom (MDA) treated four wounded, and later confirmed one fatality—Benayahu Mallet, a man in his 30s—and two other injured. The attacker, identified as Farouk Adnan Ramchan, the sheikh of the village of Tel, snatched a security officer's weapon during a confrontation with Israeli hikers near the village of Tel.

Following the attack, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz convened a security consultation at 13:09 Jerusalem with the IDF Chief of Staff, Shin Bet director, and senior officials. At 14:48, the Prime Minister's Office and Defense Minister issued a joint statement announcing a series of measures: demolition of the attacker's home, intensified operations in villages designated as terrorism hubs, reinforcement of forces across Judea and Samaria, separation of traffic routes and checkpoints, and acceleration of the regulation and establishment of new farming communities (havot). Netanyahu and Katz expressed condolences to the Mallet family and emphasized that security forces must be allowed to operate freely against terrorism.
