01 · THE DISPATCH

The Shin Bet on Friday confirmed that the four suspects arrested in connection with the foiled Beersheba terror plot were taken into custody at an advanced stage of planning while in possession of weapons, according to a statement to The Zioneer. The confirmation came hours after the Israel Police and Shin Bet disclosed the plot's details in a joint statement, which was followed by the filing of an indictment.

The story unfolded rapidly on Friday morning. At 11:23 Jerusalem, The Zioneer first reported that an indictment had been filed against four Negev residents for planning a terror attack in Be'er Sheva, citing N12. Shortly afterward, Israel Police released a photo of the suspects, and by 11:23 Jerusalem, additional details emerged: the suspects were residents of Segev Shalom, and the plot targeted the Segev Shalom police station and the Be'er Sheva central bus station. The indictment, as reported by The Zioneer at 11:23 Jerusalem, specified that one suspect was designated as the 'commander' and another as the 'engineer' who prepared an explosive device, and that the suspects had disseminated propaganda praising Hamas and the October 7 attack, calling for armed struggle.

The Zioneer has previously reported on other security operations, including the arrest of a Hamas cell planning an attack near Jerusalem, and a joint Shin Bet–Border Police operation that arrested four suspects on suspicion of smuggling weapons in southern Israel's firing zones. These operations reflect ongoing counter-terror efforts by Israeli security forces.

As of Friday afternoon, the identities of the suspects have not been fully disclosed beyond their residence in Segev Shalom, and the exact timeline of their arrest remains unclear. The Shin Bet has not commented on whether additional suspects are being sought.
