Israel Railways halted train traffic in the Ganot area after protesters again entered the tracks, defying safety instructions. The company says the halt was ordered by police and that services will resume once the area is cleared. Nationwide delays and crowding are reported.
Police ordered a fresh halt to train traffic at Moshav Ganot around 17:59 Jerusalem after protesters entered the tracks, according to Israel Railways. The incident follows a similar disruption at the same location shortly before 18:02, when the company first suspended service and later resumed. The repeated breach occurs during a day of protests by Haredi demonstrators at multiple sites in central Israel; as The Zioneer reported, large police forces including Border Police deployed at Ganot earlier at 15:10. Route 1 at the Ganot interchange and Route 6 at the Ben Shemen interchange were closed in advance. Nationwide delays on Israel Railways lines are reported as a result of the knock-on disruptions. It remains unclear whether the protesters were removed from the tracks by the time of this report.
