TL;DR

The religious-Zionist organization Torat Lechima (Torah of Combat) issued a statement Wednesday afternoon responding to the IDF chief's decision to proceed with a pilot integrating female combat soldiers in the Armored Corps, calling the move a diversion from legitimate objections. The organization accused Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir of advancing radical feminism and eroding the military's strength. It called on the government, defense minister, and prime minister to halt the pilot and curb what it described as the growing influence of the High Court and left-wing organizations over the IDF.

01 · THE DISPATCH

The religious-Zionist organization Torat Lechima (Torah of Combat) released a statement Wednesday at 15:45 Jerusalem responding to the IDF chief's approval of the pilot to integrate female combat soldiers into the Armored Corps. The statement termed the decision a smokescreen for legitimate objections from hesder yeshivas and pre-military academies.

The organization accused Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir of advancing radical feminism and disregarding the integrity of the military's combat units. It pointed to what it sees as inevitable operational integration beyond the training phase, claiming that separation during training does not prevent mixed units in combat and reserve frameworks. It called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Israel Katz, and the government to block the pilot and curb what it described as the influence of the High Court and left-wing organizations over the IDF.

The statement follows a series of escalations in the ongoing debate over mixed-gender service in the Armored Corps. As The Zioneer reported earlier Wednesday, the IDF chief approved the pilot while ruling out mixed-gender tank crews, and hesder yeshiva heads said they had secured a framework on the issue. In recent days, pre-army academy heads have publicly discouraged religious recruits from serving in the corps, deepening the rift.
