TL;DR

Lebanese reports say the IDF struck the village of Nabatieh al-Fawqa in southern Lebanon, killing two and wounding two others. The strike is the first reported Israeli attack on Lebanon after a three-day lull without any strikes, according to the same sources.

01 · THE DISPATCH

Reports from Lebanon, first carried by the Arab-world-focused channel newssil, state that the IDF struck the village of Nabatieh al-Fawqa in the Nabatieh area of southern Lebanon, killing two people and wounding two others. The current account describes this as the first Israeli attack on Lebanon after a three-day lull without any known strikes. The report is single-sourced and has not been independently verified or commented on by the IDF.

This incident follows a sequence of reported Israeli actions in the same area earlier today. As The Zioneer reported at Tue 11:49 Jerusalem, Lebanese accounts initially said Israeli machine gun fire killed one and wounded two near Nabatieh al-Fawqa, striking a bulldozer clearing a road. Subsequent updates, all published at the same time (Tue 11:49 Jerusalem), refined the account to state that IDF forces opened fire on three individuals approaching their position, killing one, striking the bulldozer, and that a total of two individuals were wounded. The current report appears to build on that event, now raising the death toll from one to two.

The Nabatieh area has seen repeated Israeli strikes in recent weeks. As The Zioneer reported on June 12, the IDF struck the city of Nabatieh and nearby villages, and on June 18 an artillery strike hit the Shiite village of Nabatieh al-Fawqa, killing three. Additional raids were reported on June 20, with the IAF carrying out further bombings in Nabatieh.

It remains unclear whether the two fatalities reported now are the same individual previously reported killed plus a second person, or an entirely new incident. The IDF has not acknowledged any of today's reports, and the source material remains unverified by independent channels.
