The IDF eliminated senior Hamas commander Ahmad al-Batsh in a precision drone strike on his vehicle in Gaza City shortly before midnight Monday, according to a report by Abu Ali Express citing Palestinian sources affiliated with Hamas.
Al-Batsh, identified as the head of the weapons department of Hamas's northern division, also commanded the Jabaliya battalion. The sources said he played a central role in the October 7, 2023, massacre, infiltrating Israeli communities during the attack. He continued to lead the battalion through the IDF's ground operations in Jabaliya.
His funeral is set to begin at 10:00 Tuesday morning, with his body departing from Shifa Hospital to al-Khanz Mosque in Gaza City for a funeral prayer, followed by burial at Sheikh Radwan Cemetery.
The Zioneer previously reported that Hamas officially confirmed al-Batsh's elimination in an early Tuesday statement, describing him as a senior military wing commander who infiltrated Israel during the October 7 massacre. The operation comes amid an ongoing series of precision strikes against Hamas commanders involved in the 2023 attack.
