Ahmad al-Batsh
Ahmad al-Batsh, known as Abu Osama, was a senior commander in the Hamas military wing who led the Jabaliya al-Bald battalion and played a role in the October 7 massacre.
Ahmad al-Batsh (Abu Osama) was a significant figure within the military hierarchy of Hamas in the northern Gaza Strip. His career within the terror organization was marked by his leadership of the Jabaliya al-Bald battalion, a unit central to Hamas's defensive and offensive operations in one of its most fortified strongholds. Beyond his tactical command, al-Batsh previously held a strategic role as the head of the weapons department in northern Gaza, where he was responsible for the procurement, production, and distribution of munitions used against Israeli civilians and security forces.
Al-Batsh was directly involved in the October 7, 2023, terror onslaught, during which he infiltrated Israeli territory as part of the mass slaughter and kidnapping of civilians. His elimination by an Israeli strike in northern Gaza City on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, represents a continued effort by the IDF to dismantle the remaining command structure of Hamas's military wing. Hamas officially confirmed his death following a targeted strike on his vehicle. For Israel, the removal of such a commander is a critical step in degrading the operational capabilities of the Jabaliya-based terror infrastructure and ensuring accountability for the perpetrators of the October 7 massacre.
