Sirens were activated at American military bases in Baghdad and Erbil, northern Iraq, according to the Abu Ali Express news channel. The cause of the alerts and any resulting interceptions or damage were not immediately reported.
This is the second report of sirens at US bases in Iraq within minutes. Earlier today (14:05 Jerusalem time), sirens were reported at the US base in Baghdad. Now, the Abu Ali Express channel reports that sirens also sounded at the US base in Erbil, in the Kurdistan region of northern Iraq. Erbil has been the site of previous incidents, including a loud explosion near the US base last Wednesday (June 10) following an attempted drone attack, as The Zioneer reported. The current alerts come amid heightened regional tensions. No further details on the cause of today's sirens or any interceptions are yet available.
