Brig. Gen. Tal Politis was promoted to the rank of major general (aluf) at a ceremony on Wednesday, ahead of his posting as the IDF attaché to the United States in Washington. The IDF announced the promotion on its website. As The Zioneer reported minutes earlier, Politis — a former Navy chief of staff — will fill an attaché role that had been vacant for six months. Politis, a native of the former Gush Katif settlement, was a 1994 World Bible Quiz winner.
