01 · THE DISPATCH

A second Tax Authority enforcement team was attacked by a hostile crowd in Bnei Brak and required police extraction Wednesday afternoon, according to ynet. The incident unfolded after a similar confrontation earlier in the day, in which a separate team was surrounded and rescued by police, as The Zioneer reported. The back-to-back attacks highlight mounting tensions surrounding tax enforcement operations in the city.

The first incident was reported at 15:03 Jerusalem by local outlet Yedioth Bnei Brak, which said inspectors had eggs and objects thrown at them. Minutes later, Channel 12 correspondent Eli Hirshman reported that the same team was trapped in their vehicle and rescued by police. A third report, published at the same time by N12, described a second team that was surrounded and extracted by police, with video documentation of the event. The Zioneer subsequently published a bulletin at 15:49 Jerusalem citing N12 and confirming the second attack.

As The Zioneer reported on June 30, journalists were attacked at a protest against the IDF chief of staff in Bnei Brak, underscoring broader friction between enforcement authorities and elements of the local population. The Tax Authority has also been involved in high-profile enforcement operations elsewhere, including the seizure of 18 luxury vehicles in Wadi Ara in June.

No information on injuries or arrests has been reported in either of today's incidents. The number of inspectors involved in the second attack and the specific enforcement actions that triggered the crowd response remain unconfirmed.
