The IDF says Unit 869 (the "Shahaf" reconnaissance unit), operating under Division 91, destroyed several pieces of terrorist infrastructure in southern Lebanon over the past two weeks, including buildings used by Hezbollah to launch explosive drones at Israeli forces. During the same period, the unit, together with the Israeli Air Force, killed more than 20 Hezbollah operatives who were advancing attack plans, according to the military.
The IDF on Wednesday released details of continued operations by Unit 869 (the "Shahaf" intelligence-gathering unit) in southern Lebanon, as Israel's security establishment maintains pressure on Hezbollah infrastructure south of the Litani River. The unit, operating under the 91st Division, focuses on intelligence collection, fire direction, and strike coordination. The military stated that over the past two weeks the unit and the Israeli Air Force eliminated more than 20 Hezbollah operatives who were advancing attack plans and posing threats to Israeli forces. IDF troops also destroyed several terror infrastructure sites, including buildings used by Hezbollah to operate explosive drones against forces. The operation builds on a pattern of Israeli strikes targeting drone capabilities — as The Zioneer previously reported, the IDF struck a Hezbollah drone-launch facility in Tyre overnight on June 10, and Givati Recon troops eliminated two drone operators in southern Lebanon on June 7. The military released video of the operations. No Israeli casualties were reported.
