The holy city of Mecca was included in the activation zone, alongside Jazan, Taif, Abha, Jeddah, Yanbu, and AlUla, as The Zioneer reported at 12:21 Jerusalem.
Earlier today, The Zioneer reported that widespread alerts were triggered across Saudi Arabia, including in Mecca, initially without a specified cause. Within minutes, the desk confirmed that the Houthi movement had launched a large-scale wave of missile and drone attacks targeting at least six locations. A further wave was then identified aimed at Mecca, Taif, and Jeddah.
The attacks follow a period of heightened regional tensions. In June, Iran launched a missile attack targeting a US air base in Saudi Arabia, as The Zioneer previously reported. The Houthi campaign against Saudi Arabia has been ongoing, with the group frequently targeting the kingdom's southern cities and critical infrastructure.
