Earlier tonight (21:01 Jerusalem), The Zioneer reported that Iranian regime-linked media said anti-ship missiles were fired at a vessel that had "violated the rules" in the Strait of Hormuz, with explosions also reported. At the same time, a senior Iranian official, Ibrahim Rezai, threatened Gulf states for hosting U.S. aircraft, warning they "should not complain later." Those reports were also unofficial and unverified.
The Strait of Hormuz has been a persistent flashpoint in U.S.-Iran tensions. As The Zioneer reported on June 28, IRGC sources expressed anger over what they called U.S. "deception" on a diplomatic deal for the waterway and weighed re-escalation. Goldblatt himself previously reported, on July 19, that the IRGC was moving tanks and military vehicles to southern Iran—another indicator of heightened preparedness.
