Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan received the 'Brave Leadership of Zion' prize from Pulse of Israel and Tribe 12, organizations that recognized his role in spearheading the renewal of Jewish communities in northern Samaria. At the ceremony, Dagan said the faith of the settlers turned the trauma of the 2005 disengagement into a historic victory and declared that the movement aims to return to Gush Katif as well.
Dagan has been a central figure in the settlement movement, receiving multiple previous honors as The Zioneer has reported. In June he was awarded a U.S. leadership prize by a large legislative organization, and the 'Vision and Action' medal in July for his work repealing the disengagement law. He has also presented a plan for 18 new communities in northern Samaria at a Washington conference. The award underscores the growing international recognition of the expansion of Jewish settlement in the region.
