Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan celebrated the return to northern Samaria in a Tuesday video, calling the settlement activity a 'historic achievement' and arguing that the same should be done in the Gaza Strip, which he described as 'our territory, completely empty.' The video, posted to his G-Planet site, also highlighted the arrival of the AMIT education network to the Sha-Nur settlement.
In a new video released Tuesday afternoon, Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan celebrated the return of Israeli presence to northern Samaria, describing the development as 'moving' and 'another historic achievement.' The video, posted to his personal G-Planet website, prominently features the arrival of the AMIT education network to the Sha-Nur settlement, a community in the region evacuated during the 2005 disengagement.
Dagan framed the settlement drive as a national security imperative. 'Each of us should be glad that there are Jews in Judea and Samaria, because then he, his home and his family are more protected,' he said. He called on Israelis to support settlers in every way, calling it 'a huge boost to our national security.'
In a notable political statement, Dagan extended the call for a return to northern Samaria to the Gaza Strip, saying: 'Now we must also return to what was once called "Gaza", and today is our territory, completely empty.' The statement aligns with Dagan's longstanding advocacy for full Israeli sovereignty in Judea and Samaria and his vocal opposition to any future withdrawals. As The Zioneer has reported, Dagan in recent weeks presented a plan for 18 new settlements in northern Samaria at a Washington conference and has called for applying sovereignty throughout the region.
