Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan received the 'Vision and Action' medal at a Besheva group gala in Jerusalem, honored for spearheading the repeal of the disengagement law and the renewal of Jewish communities in northern Samaria. Dagan dedicated the award to the families of the Homesh yeshiva and the pioneering settlers of the region.
Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan was awarded the 'Vision and Action' medal (אות החזון והמעש) on Wednesday at the central event of the Besheva publishing group at Sultan's Pool in Jerusalem, before thousands of attendees. The award recognizes Dagan's role in repealing the 2005 disengagement law and resettling Jewish communities in northern Samaria, including Homesh.
Besheva group chairman Dudo Saada presented the award, saying: 'In Jerusalem—a city whose existence testifies that two-thousand-year-old dreams can come true—we salute a man who kept his oath: to return to northern Samaria.'
Dagan responded: 'The award belongs first and foremost to the people of the Homesh yeshiva ''Homesh First'' and to the pioneering families of northern Samaria. The disengagement is dead; the people of Israel live.'
The honor follows a series of accolades for Dagan's settlement advocacy. As The Zioneer reported on June 28, Dagan was awarded the 'Torah and Settlement Crown' at Elon Moreh, and earlier in June received a U.S. legislative leadership prize where lawmakers pledged to push recognition of Judea and Samaria in 20 states. Dagan also presented a plan for 18 new settlements in northern Samaria at a Washington conference in June.
