The 'Palestinian Resistance Factions' is an umbrella designation used by a coalition of armed groups and political movements in the Gaza Strip and Judea and Samaria. While dominated by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), the coalition includes smaller Marxist-Leninist, nationalist, and local militant groups. These factions frequently issue joint statements to project a unified front in both military confrontations and political negotiations.
Historically, these groups have coordinated through the 'Joint Operations Room of the Palestinian Resistance Factions,' which manages rocket fire and defensive operations during escalations with the IDF. Beyond military activity, the factions play a critical role in the civil administration of Gaza, often acting as a consultative body for the de facto Hamas government.
