Taibeh is one of the largest and most significant urban centers for Israel's Arab population, situated along the Green Line in the Central District. As a cornerstone of the 'Triangle'—a concentration of Arab towns in the Sharon region—the city is vital to the social and economic fabric of the area. Its geographic position, bordering both the Israeli coastal plain and the seam zone of Judea and Samaria, has historically made it a sensitive location for internal security and border monitoring.

In June 2026, Taibeh emerged as the epicenter of a major security crisis. On the morning of June 7, a 21-year-old resident identified as Omar Mander Yassin launched a 'rolling' terror attack. Driving a vehicle with Israeli license plates, Yassin opened fire on civilians in Kochav Yair, Tzur Yitzhak, Tzur Natan, and the Samarian community of Sela'it, resulting in one fatality and several injuries. The pursuit ended on the outskirts of Taibeh, where Israeli police officers tracked Yassin to the local quarry area and eliminated him in a direct engagement.

The incident triggered immediate and extensive security measures within the city. The IDF and Israel Police conducted raids on the attacker's home and established a temporary lockdown in surrounding communities to rule out additional gunmen. During these operations, a second suspect was detained in Taibeh; authorities reported that the accomplice attempted to stab officers during his arrest. While the Deputy Mayor of Taibeh, Abd Jabr, condemned the attack and emphasized the city's commitment to good neighborly relations, the event underscored ongoing concerns regarding illegal weapons and radicalization within seam-zone communities. The city remains under heightened surveillance as security forces investigate the logistical support behind the assault.
