IDF eliminates Hamas Deir al-Balah head Kamal Abu Mu'iliq, wife and daughter in Gaza City strike

The elimination of Kamal Abu Mu'iliq, also known as "Abu Nabhan," marks a continued effort by Israeli security forces to dismantle Hamas's governing and administrative infrastructure. The strike targeted a residence on the 8th floor of the Al-Susi building near the Gaza City port. While Abu Mu'iliq's primary area of responsibility was Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, he was located in the northern part of the Strip at the time of the operation.

Targeting Hamas Governance

As the head of the administrative authority in Deir al-Balah, Abu Mu'iliq was a key component of Hamas's internal control mechanism. This apparatus is responsible for maintaining the group's civil grip on the population and facilitating its logistical needs. The strike follows a pattern of targeting senior administrative and internal security figures, such as Wael Ladawi, the internal security commander for central Gaza, who was eliminated in late July.

The October 7 Connection

Reports following the strike highlighted the family's deep involvement in Hamas's military activities. Abu Mu'iliq's son, Hamza, was reportedly a participant in the October 7 massacre and was killed by Israeli forces earlier in the conflict. This strike underscores the IDF's systematic approach to neutralizing both the military leadership and the administrative figures who sustain Hamas's presence in the Gaza Strip.
