A major fire in Havat Gilad on Saturday destroyed at least 13 homes and damaged a fire truck, injuring a firefighter. Reports early Sunday described the incident as an arson attack.
A large fire broke out Saturday afternoon in the Kedumim area of Samaria and rapidly spread to the community of Havat Gilad, fueled by strong winds. Fire and Rescue Services deployed over 40 firefighting crews, four aerial firefighting planes, and a helicopter to battle the blaze. At least 13 homes were destroyed, a fire truck was damaged by heat radiation, and one firefighter was injured. The entire community was evacuated.
A joint investigation team comprising police, fire investigators, and the IDF was established to determine the cause. Late Saturday night, reports on Hebrew-language Telegram channels described the incident as an arson attack. The community has launched an emergency fundraising campaign for the displaced families.
As The Zioneer reported Saturday night, the fire left families without shelter and destroyed businesses, though Torah scrolls were saved at the last moment.
