TL;DR

The speaker of Azerbaijan's parliament and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan are among the latest foreign dignitaries to arrive in Tehran for the funeral of late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, the Zioneer's monitoring of regional reports indicate. Their arrival adds to a growing list of regional leaders attending the ceremonies.

01 · THE DISPATCH

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the speaker of Azerbaijan's parliament arrived in Tehran on Friday afternoon to attend the funeral of late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, according to a single regional report monitored at that time. Their arrival comes as foreign dignitaries have been streaming into the Iranian capital since earlier in the day for the ceremonies.

As The Zioneer reported throughout Friday, the arrivals have included, by 00:06 Jerusalem Friday, the Egyptian President, the Qatari Emir, and the King of Jordan (version 13), followed by the president of Tajikistan (09:28 Jerusalem), the prime minister of Armenia (11:26 Jerusalem), and Pakistan's prime minister (11:40 Jerusalem). Other delegations reported attending by early Friday afternoon include those from Russia, China, Iraq, Turkmenistan, Malaysia, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Norway, Tunisia, Senegal, India, Mexico, Bulgaria, and the son of Hassan Nasrallah. Iranian officials stated that representatives from roughly 100 countries—including at least eight heads of state—are participating, with European countries that supported Israeli and US strikes against Iran reportedly not invited.

The funeral ceremonies, which began Friday morning at the Mosalla complex in Tehran, mark the formal farewell to Khamenei, who died earlier this week. The regime has announced a multi-day schedule: ceremonies in Tehran through July 5, moving to Qom on July 7, and concluding with burial in Mashhad on July 9. The event is the largest public display of the regime's stability since the strike that killed the Supreme Leader and his family, as The Zioneer reported.

It remains unclear whether Erdogan will hold bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the funeral, and which other heads of state or government may still be expected to attend. The report of Erdogan's and the Azerbaijani speaker's arrival is based on a single unverified regional report.
