Ben Atara is one of four reserve soldiers seriously wounded on Wednesday when an explosive device detonated as their unit entered a building in southern Lebanon. The IDF confirmed the two fatalities and four serious injuries, and later identified the soldiers as members of the 55th Paratroopers Brigade (Battalion 2855).
Earlier updates from Rambam Medical Center indicated that the condition of the four wounded soldiers stabilized. As of Sunday, one of the wounded had regained consciousness and was breathing independently, while the other three remain sedated and ventilated in the intensive care unit. Ben Atara's family has now identified him as one of the three still sedated, prompting the public request for prayers.
