01 · THE DISPATCH

On Monday afternoon (15:55 Jerusalem), the IDF confirmed that a Nukhba Force operative was among five Hamas operatives killed over the weekend while attempting to restore an underground terror infrastructure in the northern Gaza Strip, west of the Yellow Line. The identified operative, Hudhayfah Hussein Abdullah al-Hawajr, was from the East Jabalia Battalion. The military reported hits on additional operatives and said Southern Command forces remain deployed in the area under the ceasefire agreement.

Prior reports on this same story came Monday at 14:42 Jerusalem, when the IDF initially said it struck five terrorists, and the dispatch noted hits on four others. An earlier bulletin at 15:32 Jerusalem described a targeted strike on a Hamas Nukhba member. The identification of al-Hawajr by name was later confirmed across multiple versions. Over the course of the desk's coverage, the description of the target evolved from a general attack cell to a specific attempt to rebuild tunnel infrastructure.

The operation occurred while a ceasefire remains in place, and as The Zioneer reported on Jun 28, the IDF has struck vehicles carrying armed suspects crossing security zones in Gaza. Similar enforcement of buffer zones has been reported along the Lebanon border, including UAV strikes on Hezbollah operatives late last month.

It remains unclear whether the four other Hamas operatives reported as hit were killed or wounded, and no independent confirmation of the military's account has been published.
