The Israeli government observed a moment of silence at the start of its weekly cabinet meeting Tuesday noon, honoring the fallen of the ongoing War of Resurrection and the victims of the October 7, 2023 massacre.
The tribute came one day after the state memorial ceremonies marking the third anniversary of the massacre. On Monday, the IDF held military memorial ceremonies across all sectors at 06:29, followed by a state memorial at Mount Herzl and a Knesset ceremony with Shin Bet and police chiefs, as previously reported by The Zioneer. On Sunday, the Defense Ministry and the National Insurance Institute released the official toll: 2,347 Israelis have been killed — 1,318 security personnel and 1,029 civilians, including 63 children. Over 7,150 families joined the bereaved families circle, and approximately 40,000 citizens have been recognized as disabled.
The memorial period is part of the state's designation of October 7 as the National Memorial Day for the War of Resurrection, as The Zioneer reported on Sunday. A national ceremony organized by bereaved families is scheduled for Wednesday at Yarkon Park in Tel Aviv.
