The Israel Defense Forces and the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) confirmed Sunday the elimination of Mansour Sami Mahmoud Shahtout, the commander of Hamas' Naval Police for the Central Camps, and two additional commanders from the same unit. The precision strike occurred on Friday in the central Gaza Strip, targeting the three as they traveled in a vehicle armed with weapons, according to the official joint IDF-ISA statement.
Shahtout was described as having operated in recent months to advance terror attacks against IDF troops. Hamas' Naval Police, which falls under the military wing of the terror group, directs and coordinates attacks against Israeli forces. The IDF stated that prior to the strike, steps were taken to mitigate harm to civilians, including the use of precise munitions and aerial surveillance.
