01 · THE DISPATCH

The IDF and Shin Bet confirmed on Sunday that Mansour Shahtout, commander of Hamas' Naval Police in the Central Camps, was killed in a precision strike, along with two additional commanders from the same unit. The military said all three were armed and traveling in a vehicle at the time, and that Shahtout was actively promoting terror attack plots against IDF troops. The confirmation came a day after the initial report of the strike was published.

The development follows a thread The Zioneer has tracked since Saturday. At 21:16 on Saturday Jerusalem time, the IDF first reported killing three Hamas operatives in the Al-Maghazi camp in central Gaza, without further details. Later that same evening, the military identified Shahtout by name as one of those killed, and stated that the three were armed in a vehicle and posed an immediate threat. By Sunday morning, the IDF and Shin Bet had issued a joint confirmation that two additional Hamas naval police commanders were also eliminated in the same strike.

As The Zioneer reported on June 9, the IDF struck the main headquarters of the Hamas naval police in Khan Yunis, killing a commander. More recently, on June 15, the military said it killed two Hamas cell commanders in central and northern Gaza. The broader campaign against Hamas naval assets and field commanders has been ongoing for weeks, as the military describes a sustained effort to degrade the group's operational capacity in the Strip.

No further details on the identities of the two additional commanders killed alongside Shahtout have been released by the military.
