The Ali Taher ridge has been a focal point of IDF ground operations in southern Lebanon. As The Zioneer has previously reported, the ridge houses one of Hezbollah's most significant underground command installations, the 'Imad 4' base—a fortified subterranean compound spanning kilometers of rock-hewn tunnels, equipped with command centers, missile launch shafts, and logistics infrastructure built over more than a decade with Iranian assistance. The ridge overlooks the city of Nabatieh and served as a primary headquarters for Hezbollah's regional combat units.
It remains unclear whether the entire tunnel network has been secured or if any Hezbollah operatives remain inside. The current operation follows weeks of IDF efforts to dismantle Hezbollah's underground infrastructure in the sector, including previous confrontations that resulted in the loss of an IDF tank crew on the same ridge in June.
