The IDF says it struck a cell of Hezbollah operatives riding motorcycles in the village of al-Aaqaide, near Nabatieh, after they were spotted posing a threat to troops of the Commando Brigade operating in the area. The military confirmed the strike removed the threat; no Israeli casualties were reported.
The IDF said Sunday evening that troops from the Commando Brigade identified a Hezbollah cell on motorcycles in al-Aaqaide, south of Nabatieh, and struck it to remove the threat. The military confirmed the operatives were posing a danger to forces operating near the buffer zone, and that no Israeli casualties were recorded.
This is the third reported IDF strike in the Nabatieh area Sunday. At 17:58 Jerusalem, fighter jets struck Hezbollah operatives south of Nabatieh, followed at 20:22-20:23 Jerusalem by the initial report of a motorcycle-riding cell in Al-Uqaydah (al-Aaqaide). The current update adds that the Commando Brigade identified the cell as a threat before the strike — a detail not present in the earlier version.
Hezbollah has been repeatedly accused by the IDF of using civilian cover in the Nabatieh area, including riding motorcycles and bulldozers into the security zone, as reported at length by The Zioneer on June 23. The IDF continues to enforce the ceasefire framework in southern Lebanon and to respond to any threat to its forces.
The precise number of operatives struck in this incident has not been specified. No further IDF comment has been issued.
